st_clair_049.jpgPaul Tudlong was born in Bontoc, Mountain Province, which is in Luzon, the Philippines’ largest island. He is a proud son of a hardworking farming family. His father was a boxer and a local boxing trainer. His first martial arts background was karate at the age of 13. He later studied aikido in his high school years and stopped at the brown belt level.

During his studies at the University of Baguio, Philippines, he was taught the basics of judo, karate, arnis and boxing as part of the curriculum of the Bachelor of Science in Criminology program. He received his degree in 1993. Aside from all these, he also took other styles such as Yaw-Yan, a Filipino martial art that first introduced the footboxing league in the Philippines and later the Free style in which he competed with the record of 29 wins and 1 loss. After retiring from the sport, his colleagues, who were also champions in kickboxing, decided to form the Scorpion kickboxing Club of the Philippines. They appointed him as the Director of the organization and in 1990 this organization became established. After many years of teaching, they were able to produce great fighters and some became part of the Philippine national team in wushu sanshou, muay thai and boxing.

He married a Canadian in 1993 and then came to Canada in 1994. They have 2 wonderful children.

As a hobby, he continued to train and teach classes through other martial arts clubs. In 1996, Paul opened his own club in Toronto maintaining the same name and standard teaching procedures as in the headquarters based in Baguio City, Philippines. He was surprised that low kick and Muay Thai competitions were not allowed in Canada. His club is a member of the Universal Mixed Martial Arts located in North York, Ontario, Canada. He became a member of the Canadian Amateur Muay Thai Association of Ontario in 2004.

The Scorpion Kickboxing Club was founded in Baguio City, Philippines in 1990. It was organized by: Andy Kissob, Roger Digmayo, Dominique Manuel, Stanley Hilario, John Cay-ohen, Bruce Olosan, and the Head Founder/Director Paul Tudlong. Most of them were former national Kickboxing champions. They came from different martial arts background and discipline before they established the organization.

The founders created teaching procedures and routines to develop excellent martial arts skills either in sports or self-defense. The program begins with warm-ups using skipping ropes and/or calisthenics. It is followed by stretching, basic punches, and kicks. As the student advances, he may utilize punching bags, focus mitts, and kicking paddles. In the higher levels, students will learn additional combat Martial Arts and self-defense skills.

The students are expected to learn about respect and discipline, in order to build confidence, as well as to stay fit and healthy. They also have the option to train for competitions.
